Pantha Du Prince Documentary (by Rough Trade Records)
I went to see Pantha Du Prince at Great Scott in Allston last night as a part of the Together festival going on in Boston this week. It was absolutely beautiful music.
A little bit about this documentary:
Hendrik Weber (Pantha Du Prince) takes us on a tour through the ruins of Teufelsberg in Berlin and explains the concepts behind his latest album ‘Black Noise’.
Burial - NYC
Here is a brand new track from the EP Street Halo, just released this past week. It’s the first solo Burial 12” in four years…. and it’s definitely worth the wait. This track features beautifully broken female vocal samples very reminiscent of the album Untrue and equally as haunting. On the flip side of this EP we get the ”barely-there rhythms and swarming spectral shapes” of Stolen Dog, another deep-as-hell tune that’s definitely worth losing yourself in. The Digital release of Street Halo will apparently be available tomorrow. So stay posted as I’ll be putting up the link when I get a hold of it for anyone who is interested =)

The track below is Waited Patiently (ft. Lily Mackenzie) from FaltyDL’s newly released (from a day or two ago?) album You Stand Uncertain. I downloaded the album after reading Pitchfork’s (fairly accurate, in my opinion) review of it here http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15243-you-stand-uncertain/ and I’d definitely say in the next few weeks it’ll probably get enough plays on my itunes to justify the 10 dollars ten times over.
I actually had trouble deciding which track to post because they were all, if not phenomenal, highly playable. In the end it was a toss up between this gem and ‘Brazil’, which is funky awesome in its’ own right (a little more funky ;-) Check it out. : http://www.youtube.com/watchv=28FJbNbnvGE&feature=related
Bottom Line, I connect with this album, I connect with the sound, the form, the bipolarity and wonkiness of it all that you can physically feel in the skittering chords and melodic basslines that weave down through each other and then come up and out through you. Not to mention the nostalgically pure garage-iness of it all that when real DJs do it right gets you reminiscing about the first time you ever heard Dubstep.
Needless to say, I’ll be ‘patiently waiting’…. and listening … to see what he does next. I hope you will be too =)
